Dear Colleagues,

Following the 1st International Conference on Sustainable Aviation Research (ICSAR 2025), we have rebranded to the International Sustainable Aviation Research (ISAR) conference series.

ISAR 2026 will take place in Chengdu, China, from September 1st to 3rd. ISAR embraces the principal of international cooperation on sustainable aviation research, with the 2026 edition uniting Asian and Western audiences.

The aviation industry is focused with determination to transitioning to net-zero carbon emissions and mitigating contrail induced warming, while maintaining affordability and energy security. These challenges require coordinated research and international cooperation – this is the first purpose and focus of the International Sustainable Aviation Research (ISAR) conference series.

We are witnessing rapid development and commercialisation of novel sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) technologies, bringing new cross sectoral challenges that span industry, academia, and government entities at all levels. These challenges encompass research and innovation progresses, policy formulation in regulation and market dynamics, supply chain logistics, and far beyond.

Sustainable aviation fuel conferences are focussed on corporate interests and senior-level attendees, with a notable absence of dedicated forums that provide a comprehensive range of content and opportunities aimed at researchers and coordinated research actions.

Traditional academic conferences tend to focus narrowly on specific technical disciplines, such as fuel combustion, turbomachinery concepts, airframe advance materials, or fuel testing protocols. The perspectives of the full sustainable aviation value chain are rarely integrated.

Unifying the needs of the industry sector, with the capacity of the research sector is the second purpose of ISAR. Join us in Chengdu, China, this September 1st to 3rd, to build on the progress made in Dublin, Ireland, in 2025. We look forward to your participation in what promises to be another groundbreaking event, bringing together researchers, policymakers, and innovators to shape the future of sustainable aviation.
